Office for Diversity and Inclusion: A system-wide division which supports the Mount Sinai Health System in embracing the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion as key drivers for excellence and innovation for unrivaled healthcare delivery, medical and health education and research.

United in Solidarity: An online platform supported by the Office for Diversity and Inclusion. Supports, connects, and informs the Mount Sinai Health System community by promoting efforts to instill an anti-racist culture and promote anti-racist behaviors across the organization.

Change Now – Creating a Climate for Change: An online platform supported by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Department of Medical Education. Serves to educate and inform faculty, students, trainees, and staff of efforts to foster change and engagement and to help the School achieve lofty and important goals: equity, justice, holistic self-care, and maximizing every student’s potential to contribute to the greater good. The platform is home to the School’s Racism and Bias Initiative and Chats for Change.

Addressing Racism: A Road Map for Action: Eleven key strategies and interventions led by MSHS executive and senior leaders to achieve our goal to become an anti-racist health care and learning institution that intentionally addresses structural racism.

The DEI Academy at The Office for Diversity and InclusionThe DEI Academy is an employee resource that will serve as a central hub that aims to expand awareness of behaviors and practices that perpetuate racism and bias in the work and learning environment, equip participants with tools, strategies and resources to mitigate against racism and bias and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and inspire ongoing learning in content areas related to diversity, equity and inclusion. The DEI Academy is a multi-modal employee resource that combines legacy virtual and in person ODI offerings with a centralized PEAK online learning platform. 

Culture Cues and Communicating with Your Chinese PatientThis handout aims to equip our staff with insights into understanding cultural cues and effective communication strategies while interacting with Chinese patients. It focuses on bridging the gap between traditional customs and Western medicine, highlighting aspects related to understanding relationships and Chinese cultural practices. This handout marks the beginning of a collection of resources for various AAPI cultures and beyond.
